Since late 1990’s, Dow Corning India has been working on mitigating contamination induced flashovers in T&D utilities across India. Project Sales Corp, as Authorized Distributors and Applicators for Sylgard HVIC+ coatings have been associated with Dow Corning in this exercise and have completed some major projects in India.

Some of the notable projects completed by Project Sales Corp include the following for APTRANSCO:
•400 kv SS at Kalapaka, Visakhapatnam, AP
•132 kv SS at Vadapali, Nalgonda Dist, AP
•132 kv SS at Naval Wharf, Visakhapatnam, AP

So far, we have supplied and applied over approx. 3000 kgs of Sylgard HVIC +.

Our team includes a Supervisor to check the application is as per Dow Corning methodologies.
Chief Applicator to coordinate with Supervisor and Client to follow deadlines and flowchart of activities.

Team of 4 trained applicators.

More information on the product is given below:

Sylgard HVIC is the chosen form of protection for high voltage insulators and equipments in environments where:

•Salinity levels are high due to proximity to cooling towers or sea coast.
•Sub-station is located in close proximity to polluting industries – like cement, chemicals, steel or mining industries.

Alternative options like cleaning is highly repetitive and not reliable. Application of silicone greases like Dow Corning 5 or 3099 HVIC are shorter term solutions for 1-3 years.
Sylgard HVIC+ once applied is expected to give a service life of 10-15 years in medium polluted environments and 8-10 years in heavily polluted environments, making it an ideal cost-effective option with complete reliability.

The application can be done on either new equipments and insulators prior to their installation or for in-situ conditions.

Dow Corning Sylgard HVIC+ has been used in over 500 installations across Asia and many more across the world and has a pedigree of successful performance.

At Project Sales Corp, we ensure that the investment you make in bringing more reliability into your transmission networks with Sylgard HVIC+ application, pays back for itself in a few years and continues to perform giving your utility savings in revenue losses and improve customer satisfaction.

Mr Rao

First of all for leakage currents to develop we need a wet surface. Sylgard HVIC coating when applied on porcelain surfaces render them hydrophobic. There are no chances of leekage currents.

Washing of Sylgard coated surface is not essential for many years after the application. Once in a year during the shutdowns a simple test of hydrophobicity can be done by spraying a mist of water to see if they bead up. If beading up happens, there is no need for any cleaning even in the most contaminated conditons.

A simple cleaning with wet cloth is enough to allow recovery of hydrophobicity properties after Sylgard has been in service for many years.

Thaank you for your comments and trust this clarifies.

Satish

Dear Mr.Raghava Rao

Sylgard can withstand the most hostile environments.

However, any kind of abrasive handling may peel off the coating.

The levels of pollution normally decides the life of the coating. Life is estimated at 10-15 years depending on the severity of pullution.

Yes, Sylgard can withstand chemical pollution and many applications have been done in zones of chemical pollution. Silicones by their very nature have a good chemical resistance.
